Problem: Evaluate the integral

Solution: This looks like a simple integral: We multiply out the brackets and obtain powers that we can easily integrate. This would work, but a smart (meaning lazy) integrator would try to avoid multiplying out the nineth power. We can do it using a simple trick: Move the subtraction from the nineth power to the square using a linear substitution. The square is then much easier to multiply out:
